Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) Prevention Month
Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is one of the leading causes of vision loss in Americans over the age of 50. There are a number of risk factors for AMD including: age, genetics, smoking, systematic cardiovascular disease, gender (females), race (Caucasian) and UV light exposure.
Your doctor will always evaluate your eye health, including the back of your eye, by looking at it with an instrument called an Ophthalmoscope. However, we can obtain and document a more complete analysis by taking photos of your retina for future comparison.
You can also take steps to help prevent AMD and preserve your vision:
• don’t smoke • exercise • take specific vitamins
• eat healthy • wear sunglasses • wear blue light filtering glasses
To help you get started on AMD prevention, this month we are offering Retinal Screenings for $27 (a 20% savings) and 10% off a 3-month supply of vitamins. You’ll also be entered in drawing for a free 3-month supply or a pair of blue light filtering glasses. Winners announced March 6.
