Our office culture at HBR has always included engaging in, being a part of, and trying to better our community. In light of these goals, 20 years ago, we created the 20/20 Foundation, a service organization designed to promote eye health for those who may not have access to affordable care on their own.
During 2017 our doctors performed 163 in-office exams for students from many of the major school districts as well as people referred by advocacy agencies such as SafeHome and Health Partnership. Our mobile unit visited six area schools, two rescue missions, and two churches. During these mobile visits, our doctors performed over 300 free examinations, and our volunteers dispensed over 290 pairs of free eyeglasses.
All of our 20/20 exams are provided at little or no charge to the patient because we believe that seeing well is a fundamental right for all people, not a luxury based on your income or living situation. We’re proud of our contributions to our community, and we look forward to continuing to serve our neighbors in 2018!
